Happy New Year to you! I’ve picked up Lilli Pilli once again, and I got to thinking about debugging my knitting. I think it’s more officially called ‘reading’ my knitting, but the analogy to computer coding is not too far fetched. Reading knitting patterns is very natural if you’ve already studied for loops.
I’m in the first lace section of the pattern which has a nice clear repeat. I’ve formed the habit of counting my stitches after each section of lace to help avoid errors. I’ve caught many missed yarn overs, and still missed a few. It slows me down, but I think it’s worth it. I also keep count of rows with removable stitch markers, adding one on the first row of each repeat.
I’m certain there will be many new knitting adventures in 2016. I look forward to sharing them with you. 🙂
