Yesterday brought me two exciting pieces of mail. The first was an email announcing a new blog post from Tin Can Knits. I didn’t notice at the time, but they dedicated 2015 to sweaters, and this year is dedicated to learning new things. I resonated with that quite a bit, as my blog is all about discovery and learning what it is I want to learn. I had already noticed their Simple Collection and made plans to work through it in order to understand the different garments and see how I like their instructional style. I love that they’ve done it, because I haven’t found may collections like this dedicated to broad beginner instruction. If you’ve found some collections you’re excited about, I’d love to hear about them.
My other bit of mail came in the post. I received my yarn to make some Knitted Knockers for Stitches West in February. Aside from being a great program to contribute to, I think it’s a good way to get excited about Stitches. I have seen other knitting-for-a-good-cause programs, including Socks for Soldiers, and many groups dedicated to knitting hats and scarves for those in need. Ravelry is a good place to search for groups you’re interested in and ask for information.
